The Two Dead Men poem is not nonsense in the pure sense, as each line is understandable, but is rather full of impossible situations. This type of humor has been popular on the British Isles since the Middle Ages. This poem in particular has appeared in a variety of forms since the 19th century. A number of collected examples are available in Io a and Peter Opie's The Lore and Language of Schoolchildren.
Eastern Pinnacle for clarinet and CD was premiered during the third Johnstone Woodwind Master Series on May 1, 2008 by clarinettist Colleen Tryon. It took first place in the JWMS III Competition.
