Dreams of Lost Hope (2004)
The texts of this piece share a common theme of fear of what is to come, or perhaps that conditions that are already poor will continue. The clarinets are at times lofty and dream like, as in Winter's Curse. In A Dream Within a Dream, the clarinets take on a more fleeting quality. The somber last movement, Night Fear features a haunting descending line that is shared by the clarinets and the choir.
