My wife, Emily, and I were about to visit her brother, Randy, at his new home in San Diego for the first time when I thought to write a short encore-like piece for violin and piano. Not only was I excited about my first trip to California, but I was also looking forward to a much needed break. Things were so busy that Emily actually went a couple of days ahead of me. However, despite everything else going on, I couldn't get the idea of this piece out of my head. By the time I sat down to write it on the day I was traveling, it almost all came at once. Now when I look back at the piece I'm reminded of a fun and bright time on the West Coast.
