Songs of Consolation (2007)
These songs were written for baritone Dave Ramsay, whom I met when we were both students at the University of Akron. We worked together in several ensembles, and so when he requested a set of songs, I was more than happy to write something that I thought might capture his kind spirit. As such, the texts of each movement (from Helen Hoyt, James Whitcomb Riley, Richard Le Gallienne, Sara Teasdale and Christina Georgina Rossetti) reflect a theme of consolation.
