These poems of childhood were selected from Robert Louis Stevenson's collection A Child's Garden as reminders of things I also enjoyed as a child. In Looking-glass River, the voice floats and jests over a smoothly flowing piano that plays the role of running water. Windy Nights is a frightening text of a late night horse ride with feverish rhythms in the piano accompaniment. The sparse piano of The Moon lies beneath the lofty tenor voice that flows freely as the night comes to a close.
Eastern Pinnacle for clarinet and CD was premiered during the third Johnstone Woodwind Master Series on May 1, 2008 by clarinettist Colleen Tryon. It took first place in the JWMS III Competition.
